| A visit to the site of the Ex GNSR station site at Aboyne on Sunday 16th of September 2009.
Being the original terminus of the Deeside Railway from Aberdeen it was larger than usual for a country station due to the Royal Family using it too and from Balmoral Castle. The station building was of high quailty and design, with towers representing those at Balmoral. The line was eventaully extended to Ballater, which left Aboyne a really nice station but in a lightly populated area. There was also a short tunnel at the north end of the station, which is still there but blocked up. The signalbox also remains but in private use. |
